What Do I Do?

Dr Donna Kite is the Director of DK Psychology and has been working in private practice as a specialist child and adolescent psychologist since 2007. Donna has qualifications as a Clinical Psychologist, Educational and Developmental Psychologist and Counselling Psychologist.

Clinical psychologists have training in the assessment and diagnosis of major mental illnesses and psychological problems. They hold particular, skills for applying psychological theory and scientific research to solve complex clinical psychology problems requiring individually tailored intervention.

Educational and Developmental Psychologists have skills and experience working with children and young people and have knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour. They specialise in the assessment of children’s learning and the treatment of a wide range of emotional and behavioural problems in children. They can also assist parents to gain confidence in managing their children’s behaviour, prevent problems developing and build healthy relationships.

Counselling Psychologists prevent, assess, diagnosis and treat a range of mental health conditions, emotional and developmental issues.

Combining skills from these areas Donna provides psychological therapy and assessment for children age 2-18 years.  Donna has an interest and extensive experience in anxiety, behavioural issues and autism spectrum conditions, as well as providing assessments for children who are gifted or have learning difficulties (including dyslexia).  Donna is an accredited to diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorders by Autism SA and provides therapy to NDIS clients. 

Along with her private practice Donna also presents workshops on child and adolescent therapy and assessment to schools, colleagues and parents.
